Cookie Policy

How Sek-Hamers uses cookies and similar technologies for a calm, compliant, and transparent learning experience.

This page explains cookie categories, consent options, and how to manage your preferences. Educational platform only—no diagnostic or therapeutic services.

Overview

This Cookie Policy describes how Sek-Hamers B.V. (“Sek-Hamers”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. We operate from the Netherlands and provide educational materials intended for learners in Canada. We do not provide clinical, medical, or psychotherapeutic services. Cookies help us deliver essential site features, measure interest in our educational content, and—if you consent—show relevant educational advertising.

You can control non-essential cookies at any time through the Cookie preferences panel available via the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the footer, or through the banner that appears on your first visit.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or “persistent” cookies (stored for a defined period). We also use similar technologies like localStorage for consent records and tag settings.

Cookie categories we use

Essential

Essential cookies

Required for core functionality, security, and session management. Set automatically.

  • Examples: session_id, csrf_token, cookie_consent_status
  • Retention: session or up to 12 months (preferences)
  • Consent: not required
Analytics

Analytics cookies

Help us understand traffic and content performance to improve educational materials.

  • Tool: Google Analytics 4 (IP anonymization enabled)
  • Examples: _ga, _ga_XXXXXXX, _gid, _gat
  • Retention: up to 14 months
  • Consent: required before activation
Marketing

Marketing cookies

Used for remarketing and to measure advertising that promotes our educational resources.

  • Technologies: Google Ads tags, Meta Pixel
  • Examples: _gcl_au, _gcl_aw, fbp
  • Retention: up to 540 days (Google Ads default)
  • Consent: required before activation

Your consent choices

On your first visit we display a cookie banner with three options: “Accept All”, “Reject Non-Essential”, and “Manage Preferences”. Your choice is stored in localStorage for 12 months. You can update your settings any time using the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the footer, which opens the Cookie preferences panel where you can independently toggle Analytics and Marketing categories. Essential cookies remain active and cannot be disabled because they are required for security and basic site functions.

Tools and tags we may load after consent

  • Google Analytics 4 for aggregated usage statistics and content performance.
  • Google Ads tags for conversion measurement and remarketing related to our courses and articles.
  • Meta Pixel for measuring interest in our educational pages and optimizing campaign delivery on Facebook and Instagram.

These technologies are activated only when you allow the relevant cookie category in the preferences panel or select “Accept All”.

Advertising and remarketing disclosures

Third-party vendors may use cookies to show ads based on prior visits to our website and other sites. We may work with partners such as Google and Meta to deliver advertisements about our educational materials across their platforms, including placements on services like YouTube or within the broader display networks. We use conversion tracking to understand which campaigns lead to actions on our site, such as requesting program information or subscribing to our newsletter.

Opt-out options are available via browser settings and widely recognized industry programs. Addresses of those programs are available in our Privacy Policy. Choosing to opt out will not remove ads entirely; it will limit personalization.

Cookie retention

  • Essential cookies: session or up to 12 months for preference storage.
  • Analytics cookies: up to 14 months (Google Analytics 4 default options).
  • Marketing cookies: up to 540 days (Google Ads default).
  • Consent records: up to 3 years for audit purposes (stored using localStorage keys).

Managing cookies in your browser

Modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. If you block essential cookies, parts of the website may not function correctly. For fine-grained control over Analytics and Marketing categories on this site, use the Cookie preferences panel from the footer link.

Territorial notes

  • Canada: We present clear consent options and avoid collecting sensitive information through forms or tracking without explicit action.
  • EEA and UK: Analytics and marketing cookies are activated only after explicit consent consistent with GDPR/UK GDPR. Consent is time-stamped and may be audited upon request.
  • Netherlands: Our company is registered in the Netherlands. Data transfers to analytics and advertising partners may involve international processing under appropriate safeguards.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect improvements to our learning platform, changes in technology, or legal requirements. Where changes are material, we will provide a notice on the homepage at least 14 days before they take effect. The most recent version will always appear on this page.
